Golf Holiday in Barbados

An all-inclusive holiday in Barbados is the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.

Lovers of Golf will be in their element with some fantastic courses to choose from on the island. Here is our guide to three of the most beautiful and most challenging golf courses in Barbados.

Rockley Golf Club
The oldest golf club in Barbados, Rockley Golf Club is located on the picturesque south coast and is ideal for golfers of all ages and abilities.

The course features some testing holes and lengthy par threes, with the tricky par five being the most taxing on the course.

The Rockley Golf Club is set in beautiful scenery, and prices start from $78 for non members playing nine holes. Its club house is one of the friendliest on the island and is a great way to finish up a challenging round.

Barbados Golf Club
The Barbados Golf Club is a stunning course set in beautiful grounds in Durants in the south of the Island. The course was approved by the PGA European Tour to host the PGA Seniors Tournament in 2003, and the course has been host to the Barbados Open on numerous occasions.

The course was subject to renovations to its environmentally friendly design by Ron Kirby and the course presents a challenging game for golfers of all levels.

Highlights of the course include two “returning Nines” which includes a triple green bordering one of two lakes, and a chain of coral waste bunkers through four holes making for a challenging but exciting course.

Royal Westmoreland
The Royal Westmoreland 18 hole championship golf course is set on an exclusive Barbados estate and country club within a community of secluded luxury homes and holiday villas offering spectacular ocean views.

The grounds of the Royal Westmoreland is home to US Masters Champion Ian Woosnam who says the par three holes are some of the best he has played worldwide.

Highlights of the course include an old coral stone quarry, ocean views and the tricky 12th par three green which is lined by a ravine.

The course’s colonial style club house provides the focal point with its fantastic location, affording stunning views of the tropical grounds and coastline.

Barbados is a great holiday destination for golf lovers, and Almond have all-inclusive Barbados holiday packages at three magnificent resorts.

St Lucia Scuba Diving: The Shipwreck of the Lesleen M

Scuba Diving in St Lucia

There is so much to see and do on the beautiful Caribbean island of St Lucia. With a wealth of activities on offer on Almond Resort’s all-inclusive holidays in St Lucia, you are already spoilt for choice, but for those looking to experience even more, there are some fantastic adventurous opportunities.

St Lucia is a fantastic island for scuba diving, and there are dives to cater for all levels of experience.

The Shipwreck of the Lesleen M is one of the region’s greatest dives. The cargo vessel was deliberately sunk in the waters off the west coast of St Lucia, just to the north of the Piton mountains in the mid-1980s in order to create an artificial reef.

The pristine, clear waters afford excellent visibility and a bewildering array of colourful fish weaving in and out of the anemone and fire coral-covered wreck, creating ideal underwater photograph opportunities.

The wreck’s cargo area is also accessible to divers, who can swim along the ship’s walkways, with the chance to spot juvenile frogfish, soldier fish, snappers, angelfish and tuna.

Caribbean Beach Weddings – A Guide

Posted on 06/03/08 by Almond Resorts under News, 1 Comment

Caribbean Beach Wedding

It is not hard to see why many people choose a beach wedding - exchange vows on a tropical beach, with powder white sand at your feet and the ocean as your backdrop.

The romantic setting of a beach wedding is hard to beat, and after the ceremony, couples can take a stroll along the beach, hand in hand, the setting makes for some fantastic photograph opportunities.

The scenery is not the only persuasive factor, beach weddings can work out substantially cheaper than getting married in the UK. The cost of getting married has escalated in recent years, with the average UK wedding costing around £16,000, a stark comparison with the average wedding abroad which costs around £6,000.

Advantages are not just confined to monetary savings, marrying abroad can incorporate much of the wedding planning, which can be undertaken by your travel agent and personal wedding coordinator.

The Perfect Setting
The Caribbean provides the perfect setting for a beach wedding; year round hot tropical climate, powder white sand and clear pristine waters make it the ideal location to get married.

With fantastic properties on offer like the Almond Beach Club in Barbados and the Almond Morgan Bay in St Lucia, Almond Resorts can help you to select the perfect venue for your beach wedding, and provide you with all the help and support to ensure your day goes without a hitch.

The Caribbean is warm and sunny year round, and to make the most of your wedding and honeymoon, we recommend you plan the occasion within the dry season which falls between December and May.

What to Remember
Like a wedding in the UK, you have to make sure you have all the necessary papers and follow the correct procedure to make your wedding legal, but this is not nearly as complicated as you may think. In fact, Almond’s wedding coordinator can help take you through the entire process.

First you need to chose your hotel and request a wedding date, which should be confirmed quickly. If the date is not available you will be advised of an alternative.

Once the date is booked and the legal requirements are met, you need to think about practicalities.
Almond offer a host of personalised wedding services to make your big day truly special. These include photography packages and flower arrangements, live music and beauty treatments. See the full list of wedding services offered by almond Resorts for further information.

Don’t forget the guests – make sure they book with Almond with plenty of time in advance, or if they choose to stay elsewhere they need to know that it is close enough to your venue that they can get there easily! Certain Almond Resort properties are adults only, so it is best to check first if you have any children among your party.

What about your dress and wedding clothes? The best bet is to pack your bridal dress with it with tissue paper into a strong suitcase and check it in as luggage. However, this will form part of your luggage allowance. On arrival at your hotel it is best to hang it up in the bathroom to allow the creases to drop out.

Don’t forget to tell your guests what the dress code is – should they go with the tropical theme and wear light informal clothes or would you prefer them to stay traditional and dress up.

Honeymoons and Renewing Wedding Vows
Couples can also renew their vows on the beautiful shores of the Caribbean, or plan the perfect honeymoon with other packages from Almond Resorts.

The Caribbean is a beautiful location for a beach wedding. The informal setting and laid back atmosphere will make for a truly special day that you will remember forever.
